Chiharu Egami
This project is based on formal exploration and the technique to achieve the desired shape. The design resembles a shell, an asymmetrical piece with a variable shape, winding into a spiral. The design features a fitted inner bodice and a very voluminous outer dress. It is made of silk organza and features fixed pleats painted in black to obtain the appearance of a rough and three-dimensional surface.

Getaria
“Walking through Getaria, the coastal town and birthplace of Cristóbal Balenciaga, I found some seashells and I wondered if Balenciaga himself would collect these types of items when he was a child. The formation of the shells, their structural and mathematical perfection, reminded me of the designer's mastery and that is why I developed my project along this line”.
